A wet well primarily serves as a large containment system for wastewater, providing a temporary storage solution before its transfer to a treatment facility or another designated area. Due to various reasons such as system inefficiencies, significant rainfall, or regular maintenance tasks, water can accumulate in these wells.
Addressing such a challenge, CSA embarked on the significant task of draining a 150-metre wet well for a client. Our involvement in this project exemplifies the transformative results that can be achieved with the right techniques in liquid waste management.
Liquid waste management
Liquid waste management anchors the core pillars of environmental health: environmental sustainability, public health safeguards, and efficient urban infrastructure. At its essence, it delineates the methodologies and tactics applied to the collection, processing, and disposal of liquid waste, whether originating from households or industrial discharges. The nuanced challenge of draining profound wet wells accentuates the intricacies inherent in this field.
CSA began with the deployment of vacuum excavation trucks, the linchpin of our mission. The combo units, armed with cutting-edge hydro excavation capabilities, took center stage in the water extraction process. Despite the formidable depth of the wet well, our lengthy hoses ensured comprehensive liquid waste removal. The compressors worked tirelessly to maintain the pressure needed for the efficient execution of hydro excavation.
Resource Mobilisation:
Operators: Our team included a dedicated brigade of eight highly skilled operators, each proficient in hydro excavation and vacuum excavation truck operations.
Tools of the Trade:
To tackle this mammoth task, we deployed an arsenal of equipment. Two sets of hoses were instrumental – 200 meters of robust 4-inch hoses for liquid waste removal and an additional 200 meters of air hose to regulate airflow. We relied on two heavy-duty compressors to maintain the necessary pressure throughout the operation. Three utility vehicles (Utes) ensured the seamless transport and deployment of equipment, while two combo units, optimised for hydro excavation, were at the heart of the liquid waste removal process.
With CSA, we don’t just complete tasks, we elevate them to an entirely new level of excellence.
